The Changing Face of Roadkill

I usually experience at least a twinge of sadness when I see a dead animal lying on the road (unless it's a rat, then there is no sadness at all). The first several years after we moved to Washington most of the roadkill was opossums. The last couple of years it has been raccoons. Now we rarely see opossums and just a few raccoons. The "newest" animal we just started seeing is coyote pups. What next? I hope it's rats.

Coyote pups? That's a little sad...I have to say, I've never seen a coyote, just heard them. I've seen an unusual amount of raccoons around these parts as well. Strange.

There have been 6 deer run down on the Lake Road it has been reported..Gordon just saw 6 standing in the middle of the road this week and I saw two grazing on the side of the road last week. It is my biggest fear that I will one day hit one or worse, trying not to hit one!
